About Edwards Grant Portal

The Edwards Grant Portal (Asia-Pacific) is a regional online grant request submission platform. Healthcare professionals and healthcare organizations can apply for funding to support research or educational projects in the areas of structural heart disease and its treatment, as well as hemodynamic monitoring and surgical recovery.

You can use this Grant Portal to submit project proposals from Asia-Pacific. For other regions, kindly visit Global Grant Home.

Edwards Lifesciences will not provide any Research Grant or Educational Grant for:
  • Projects that are intended to directly and commercially promote Edwards Lifesciences' products;
  • Activities that have already occurred;
  • Projects that are conducted in any other countries outside of the Asia-Pacific region;
  • Capital campaigns, building projects or the procurement of equipment;
  • Recreational events with a general entertainment purpose (e.g. holiday parties, retirement celebrations etc.);
  • Individual physicians or group practices or journal clubs;
  • Distribution of textbooks;
  • Exhibit/display opportunities (which should be reviewed through a different process);
  • Any other non-compliant submissions.
Sponsorship is provided in exchange for tangible benefits such as booth or exhibit space rental. It is therefore not in scope of Edwards Grant Portal's process. The requester would required to follow a different review and approval process.
The Edwards Lifesciences Foundation is the primary resource for all Edwards Lifesciences’ philanthropy. Information about the Foundation can be found on the Edwards Lifesciences website at this link. However, from time to time Edwards Lifesciences will support modest requests for charitable contributions (monetary or in-kind) from bona fide charitable organizations. The contribution must be in support of the charity’s stated mission and be tax deductible by Edwards Lifesciences.


About Research Grant

Edwards Lifesciences is committed to supporting independent research projects in the area of valve science and hemodynamic monitoring to enhance scientific knowledge.

Edwards Lifesciences will consider funding requests, whether financial or in-kind, for research projects with:
  • Good scientific or medical merit;
  • Well-defined objectives with identified milestone deliverables;
  • Justifiable budget estimation (based on fair market value);
  • Compliance with applicable national and international laws and regulations;
  • Alignment with Edwards Lifesciences’ established areas of interest and strategic focus, but not as inducement to further Edwards Lifesciences' commercial interests.
Edwards Lifesciences will only consider supporting research projects that can demonstrate clear evidence of high ethical standards with respect to clinical research in human subjects as stipulated by the International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) for human subjects.

  • Curriculum vitae or brief biography of principal investigator; and
  • Itemized budget, including direct study costs (e.g., subject related costs, study-related personnel costs, diagnostic fees and services, data management expenses), indirect study costs (e.g., publication costs, IRB review fees, equipment / supply expenses, animal-related costs)
Edwards Lifesciences makes every attempt to review funding requests in a timely manner, while adhering to a strict internal review process. Applicants will typically be notified of the results of the review process within 8-10 weeks for Research Grants.

If the Grant Review Committee approves your grant request, both parties must sign a written agreement before funding support is provided.
Once milestones for the project have been achieved per the fully executed project agreement. Payments are processed upon receipt of an invoice and progress report as supporting documentation, and payments are typically received within thirty to sixty days thereafter.


About Educational Grant

Edwards Lifesciences will only provide Educational Grant to those programs and / or events that are organized by established medical, scientific and / or professional associations and societies, accredited medical education providers or other organizations with genuine medical education functions.

Edwards Lifesciences will only provide Educational Grant funding to CME-accredited programs, unless the program is solely for residents and / or fellows who have not completed their medical training.

Edwards Lifesciences does not provide Educational Grant to non-accredited programs and / or events, or to individual healthcare professionals, such as a physician, or a group of individual physicians, such as group practice.
An educational grant aims to support the educational purposes of healthcare organizations. Applicants can apply for four different types of Educational Grants.

1) Fellowship Funding:
  • Edwards Lifesciences grant fund to an organization accredited by a Professional Associations or with an academic affiliation to provide fellowship for the specialty education of the healthcare professional (HCP).
  • Edwards Lifesciences will consider providing fellowship funding to defray the expenses of one or more medical professionals-in-training.
  • All funding requests for fellowship support should have established criteria for potential fellowship recipients and the independent selection of fellowship recipients.
  • Edwards Lifesciences may have no influence or control over the selection of fellowship recipients.
  • Edwards Lifesciences does not support multi-year application.
  • If fellowship funding is approved, funding may only be used to cover reasonable stipend / salary and textbooks for the recipient, and may not be used to cover expenses for medical equipment, or any fellow’s overhead expenses, such as medical license fees, or to cover the sponsor’s administrative costs (e.g., overhead).


2) Training for HCPs and 3) Education for Patients:
  • Educating relevant stakeholders, such as healthcare professionals and patients on valvular heart diseases.
  • Educating healthcare professionals on the proper management of patients with valvular heart diseases or in need of hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Facilitating the proper use of Edwards products in line with its intended use as outlined in the Instructions for Use.


4) HCP Indirect Sponsorship:
  • Edwards Lifesciences supports healthcare professionals attending third-party educational events and covers registration fees, accommodation and necessary reasonable travel costs.
  • The funds to cover the logistic costs are not provided directly to physicians.
  • Edwards Lifesciences supports the Healthcare Organization (hospital, university, private healthcare entity) which will nominate the physician who will participate to the congress.

  • The applicant organization’s signed letter which:
    • (1) Briefly describes the organization;
    • (2) States the exact amount of funding or in-kind contribution requested;
    • (3) Includes a detailed budget; and
    • (4) Describes the program / event, and desired learning objectives or outcome.
  • Past support details and proof of fund usage (Project title, Year, Amount) if Edwards Lifesciences had previously provided Educational Grant to your organization in the last 2 years.

About Proposal Submission and Review Process

No, sales representatives must not be involved in your grant request submission. The only support sales representatives may provide you is information about the existence of the Grant Portal and about the different grant categories.

Please select any one of the relevant therapeutic areas you wish and make sure to mention this in your application form.
Edwards Lifesciences is in favor to use English as our official communication language, as all our regional meetings (including Grant Review Commitee meetings) will be conducted in English. Nevetherless, you may still opt to submit your requests in other languages, for example Japanese (for Research or Educational Grant) and other local languages (Educational Grant only).
Yes. Once you have successfully created an account within the Grant Portal, you can save your request before submitting it in order to complete it at your convenience.
There are two reasons why you may not be able to submit your grant application form:
  • 1) Your user account may not have yet been validated by Edwards
  • 2) You may not have completed all the required fields.

Once the Grant Review Committee has received or reviewed your application, you will receive an email notification update to inform you about the current status of your grant request.

All grant requests will be reviewed and considered by the Grant Review Committee using objective criteria to ensure that funding is provided based solely on the merits of research proposal or educational program, and not as an inducement to further Edwards Lifesciences’ commercial interests.

Edwards Lifesciences receives many requests for funding and only a small percentage would receive support. If approved, a Reseach Grant or Educational Grant may be in an amount that is less than the amount requested. All funding is awarded at Edwards Lifesciences’ sole discretion.

Edwards Lifesciences adheres to all applicable international and national laws and regulations in its review and approval of funding requests.

In addition, Edwards Lifesciences is a proud supporter of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) Code of Ethics on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals. Educational Grants must comport with the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), and internal Edwards Lifesciences’ compliance policies.

No. Submission of your grant application is the first step in the review process. Once your application has been submitted, the Grant Committee evaluates your request and may approve and fund your request if your project complies with the funding criteria. Please note that all funding is awarded at Edwards Lifesciences' sole discretion.

No, each submission is evaluated separately and independently from previous cooperation with Edwards Lifesciences. Any new projects coming from your institution will be evaluated only if Edwards Lifesciences has received all deliverables as stipulated in the previous contract.

No, being a loyal Edwards Lifesciences customer does not guarantee funding of your project. Edwards Lifesciences will not award any grants:
  • With the explicit or implicit understanding that the research institute, principal investigator, or educational institution will favor or recommend Edwards Lifesciences' products or services in exchange;
  • Based on whether the research institute, principal investigator, or educational institution uses Edwards Lifesciences' products;
  • To projects that are structured to provide incentives for the research institution, principal investigator, or educational institution to use Edwards Lifesciences' products;
  • To reward research institutions, principal investigators or educational institutions for past loyalty to Edwards Lifesciences' products.
An Edwards Lifesciences representative will contact you to share the Grant Review Committee's decision and the next steps in the process. Mutual consent on the grant agreement must be obtained and a grant agreement must be signed to secure the funding.

Once your project has been completed, you are expected to deliver a detailed final report on your grant activity as stipulated in the grant agreement.
